2016 is the year of WRAD which is the WORLD ROCKS AGAINST DEMENTIA , and for this reason, the chosen charity of the Global Purple Angel dementia awareness campaign this year is Alzheimer's Disease International. Over the years we have raised Tens of thousands of pounds for various Different Dementia charities around the UK, as far as we know we are the only group of its kind to do this as well as raise our own funds, and please dont forget Alz Int also does some great work here in the uk as well as around the world, . We will be encouraging people to raise funds for Alz Disease International all next year, but please remember, on WRAD day it will be YOUR CHOICE who you raise funds for, the ADI just giving page will be up and running for you to donate to if you so wish, but the beauty of this event is you can raise funds for whoever you want to. Any dementia charity local to you and close to your heart is ok by us, the real reason for the event is raising awareness around the world, but if we can raise a few pennies along then way to help- others, then so be it
WRAD day will be when the WHOLE world will come together and say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" and " WE WON'T BE BEATEN" Dementia is a disease that knows NO barriers, NO borders and doesn't care who you are, what you do for a living, what God you worship or what the colour of your skin is , so neither should we. We should all come together on this day and show the WORLD WE CARE. The Global Purple Angel dementia awareness campaign was born out of need and necessity, YES people have said IT WON'T LAST, YES people have said its Unsustainable, and YES people have said Its just a passing phase " and YET, here we are, two years down the line, and recognised WORLDWIDE, STILL run by UNPAID VOLUNTEERS, and Ambassadors in so many different countries ALL over the world!! So please, join us on this day, hold an event, and let us know what you are doing. please remember, "Rock" is just a generic term for any type of great music, so it doesn't have to be a big event, it can be a cream tea in a church hall listening to classical music to a concert of choirs, to a rave in a pub!! It really doesn't matter, as long as we stand together against this awful disease and drag it kicking and screaming into the 21st century and show it for what it really is, a disease of the brain and not something from the history books !!!!
