HAMPSHIRE CARE HOME PRAISED BY THE CARE QUALITY COMMISSION

Ashley Lodge Bupa Care Home in New Milton has been rated as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following its latest inspection.

The CQC’s latest report commended Ashley Lodge Bupa Care Home, rating it as ‘Good’ in all areas including safety, effectiveness, and being well-led.

Ashley Lodge, which currently provides personal and nursing care for 48 residents, was praised for its risk management, hygiene standards, food offering and support of staff. Alongside commending the consistent, effective, and timely care, the report noted that the care home adapts services, design, and decorations to meet residents’ needs.

Following the inspection, where the CQC team spoke to relatives, residents, and staff, they received additional feedback from 10 staff members and 10 relatives.

A relative praised the responsiveness of the Ashley Lodge team, commenting: “Yes, my relative uses the call bell. When I press, they are quick and responsive.”

The effectiveness of the care home team is down to several factors, including the well-staffed team. A staff member shared: “We always have a full allocation of staff to start the day, obviously when we have staff sickness or last-minute issues, the manager and deputy manager move staff around to ensure safe levels are achieved.”

The report also shares that positive feedback about the management team was also provided. A relative commented: “The service is exceedingly well managed. On the ball. Everyone there is there because they want to be.”

Alongside the management of the team, the CQC inspection received positive responses about meals at Ashley Lodge, with relatives telling the CQC that residents had the help they needed to eat, that meals were nice, and that residents enjoyed them.

Ashley Lodge was also praised as an employer, with one staff member sharing: “Staff morale is the best it's ever been, currently. We have all worked so hard together to keep each other, and our residents safe, meaning we support and motivate each other to keep morale as high as we possibly can. I love the whole team I work with and every single one of them wants to come to work and works ridiculously hard for our residents.”

Another staff member shared how happy and supported they felt in their role. They said, "Staff have support from the management team and their full appreciation. Staff are friendly and always welcoming towards new members. I'm happy to work at Ashley Lodge."

Jessica Rolfe, Home Manager at Ashley Lodge, commented: “We are very proud that the Ashley Lodge team have improved their rating. The whole team work so hard, and it is brilliant to see all that work reflected in such a positive report.”
